Coal bed methane extraction (CBM extraction) is a method for extracting methane from a coal deposit.

CBM is a form of natural gas that is found in coal seams and is extracted by drilling wells into the coal seams. Unlike extraction of conventional natural gas, CBM extraction requires the removal of groundwater to reduce the pressure in the coal seam, which allows CBM to flow to the surface through the well. This water must be managed, in several states, is sometimes permitted for discharge directly or indirectly to surface waters.

Vibration exciter

Vibration exciter is installed the adjustment eccentric block in the two ends, using the centrifugal force obtain the exciting force.

Circular or elliptic vibration

The projection of vibration locus in horizontal is a straight line, but in the vertical is a circular or elliptical, the vibration type is called circular or elliptical vibration. Usually a set vibration exciter is installed in the body of vibration exciter, then it can produce the movement.

Linear motion vibration

The projection of vibration locus in level or vertical is straight line, the vibration model is linear motion shale shaker. Two same parameter exciter are installed in the body of vibration machine, make the two spindles are parallel to each other, the direction is opposite when the two motor operate, so the two sets motor operate must be synchronization, the machine produce the linear motion vibration.

Composite vibration

The vibration of the oscillating body is produced by two sets vibration system, the vibration model is called compound type. It has double frequency compound type and double amplitude compound. When the projection of the vibration locus in vertical is a level straight line, the vibration model is flat spiral vibration; When the projection of the vibration locus in vertical is a skew lines, the vibration model is eddy vibration; When the projection of the vibration locus in vertical is a circle or a elliptical, the vibration type is complex spiral vibration.

Gravity separation

Gravity separation is decided by the difference of density, the height of liquid column, the size of bubbles and the flow resistance in fluid. The simple drilling fluid tank or fracturing tank is a gravity separator, it can store fluid, solid phase and gas until they are natural separation. The gas rise and escape from the top of the tank, the oil is separation in other fluid and floating to the top of fluid. When oil over overflow mouth or built-in baffle of the tank is siphoned off, drilling fluid and other fluid are eliminated from the bottom tank. Gravity separation is the main method of used in oil-water separation than and seal type confined separator.

Centrifugal separation

Drilling fluid is sent to the circular container with tangential or cylinder container. Oil, gas, water and solid phase particles produce the artificial gravity by the centrifugal force of a rotating fluid. The method is used in many open or West Texal separator, but the involute spiral is widely used in seal type bearing system, it produces gravity separation.

Impacting, baffling, spray separation

Impacting, baffling, spray separation make drilling fluid impact the baffle with high speed, the separation the gas. It can directly separate the drilling fluid which is discharging from overflow pipe and chip removal pipe, it can separate after using pump increase the drilling fluid flow speed.

Parallel-plate and membrane separation

Parallel-plate and membrane separation is aim at the gas of drilling fluid. Drilling fluid is tile expansion on parallel plate, make gas is easy to escape. In parallel separator, the drilling fluid has gas is forced between the two parallel plate, male bubbles distortion, the thin film processing is used in most vacuum degassing device. 

Vacuum separation

Vacuum degassing device is using separate the drilling fluid mixed gas, it using decrease pressure to urge bubbles swell and fracture. The method is used in degassing device to eliminate the drilling fluid mixed gas.

Hydrocyclone is divided into drilling fluid desander, desilter and miniature swirler according different diameter.

The drilling fluid desander

The diameter is 150-300mm swiler is called drilling fluid desander. The throughput of desnader is exceed 20-120m3/h in the pressure of 0.2MPa. In the normal condition of drilling fluid desander can eliminate 95% is bigger than 74um drilling cuttings and 50% is bigger than 30um drilling cuttings. When choose drilling fluid desander, the throughput should be 5 times of maximum discharge.

The desilter

The diameter is 100-150mm swire is called desilter. When the input pressure is 0.2Mpa, the throughput can’t be less than 10-15m3/h. The normal working sate of drilling fluid desander can eliminate 95% bigger than 40um drilling cuttings and 50% bigger than 15um drilling cuttings. The licensing throughput of drilling fluid desilter should be 1.25-1.5times of the maximum displacement.

The structure and working theory of hydrocyclone:

Hydrocyclone is a conical vessel with cylindrical parts, the cylindrical part in upper vertebral body is called fluid cavity, there is a intake pipe lateral the cylinder, to tangent form and fluid cavity, the top of the vessel is overflow month, bottom is bottom month, a hollow circular tube along the swire axis from the top extended to fluid cavity, the circular tube is called overflow month, it is convenient to overflow.

How to choose

We must ensure the before disposing equipment-drilling fluid shale shaker work efficiency. We should choose the detail screen and it can’t appear by-pass flow or amyxis, prevent the swire appear solid phase overload and blocking.

Choosing the appropriate centrifuge, ensure inlet pressure. In the suction side should be added put screen, in order to prevent the big particle cluster suction.

We should add the right amount water in swire, decreasing drilling fluid density and viscosity and increasing the separation efficiency of swire.
