In oil solid control system, when drilling fluid centrifuge separate drilling cuttings, also can eliminate the useful solid phase and cause the energy waste and environmental pollution. How to efficiency separate and recover the useful solid phase have become the main problem.

Centrifuge

To solid control centrifuge, research the motion law and subside of drilling fluid and solid particles in the centrifuge, the speed and force distribution is obvious important.

The separation process of solid phase and liquid phase is in the drum. The separation principle of drilling fluid centrifuge uses the drum high speed rotary drive the mud high speed rotary which enter into the drum, the mud is thrown to the wall of drum and form a liquid cycle, because the solid phase particles get the centrifugal force which is bigger than hundreds or thousands times of itself gravity, it overcomes the resistance of mud viscosity and sediment to the wall of the drum rapidly and form solid phase level, liquid phase form liquid level.

LW series is a normal decanting centrifuge mode of our company,they are ideal choices for separating particles in drilling mud. Decanting Centrifuge separate the suspending fluids and using the principle of centrifugal action, the suspending fluids is pushed into the rotor drum through the inlet pipe and the fluid hole of the spiral feeder. Under the influence of centrifugal force, solid phase particles are pushed to the internal wall of the drum, then to the nud export of the small end of the drum and excreted. But the fluids is excreted from the overflow hole of the large end. Such cycle is in order to achieve the purpose of continuous separation.High speed decanting centrifuge are effective for separation.

When use not water-based to drill, the viscosity of liquid phase is hypersensitive to temperature, but viscosity is the one of most important factor of effecting sedimentation, the high viscosity drilling fluid decrease the centrifugal rate of centrifuge, so to oil based drilling fluid, the viscosity is more high, we often use heating methods to decrease viscosity.

Drum diameter-D

In the condition of other ceteris paribus, the production capacity of centrifuge is directly proportional to D3. According the size of diameter, foreign centrifuge have already serialization. The diameter is stated by our country is 200, 450, 600, 800, 1000mm. The diameter of foreign centrifuge is 6, 8, 10, 16, 20, 25, 30, 40 in.

We know that when centrifugal force is equal, the drum diameter is bigger, the rotary speed is lower. The retention time of solid phase particles in drum is longer, it can make fine solid phase particles have full times to settle to the wall of drum in the function of centrifugal force and discharged through screw pusher.

Drum length L

Usually the drum length according to the diameter ratio to confirm, to the difficult separation material, the major axis ratio is 3-4. The length of drum is big, the volume of centrifuge setting pond is big, the retention time of solid phase is longer, so the separation effect is good. But the major axis ratio is limited by manufacturing technique and dynamic balance, so it can evaluate at well. To the difficult separation suspension liquid, the most reasonable method is improving the long diameter ratio in the condition of small diameter.

Drum shape 

The drum shape has cone and tapered column the two basic structures. When drum length and diameter is fixed, the tapered column can provide bigger internal precipitation space to make the retention time of solid phase particles is longer in drum, the separation ability is stronger. Compared with cone drum, one is in the condition of treating is unchanged can keep the lower separation sizes; two is the throughput is bigger but the solid phase separation size is not changed. Because these reasons, drilling fluid treatment used centrifuge all use tapered column drum.
