Mud tank is an important equipment used in drilling mud circulation system. Usually, the tanks including main body, compartment, walk way, stairs, gurad rail, drain gate, man hole, fittings,etc.The pipelines for cable, etc.

Our Mobile Mud Tanks are used primarily for mud storage. All the tanks feature a double manifold with a landing and integrated safety stairway. They have a round bottom with 6″ gel lines. They are also coated. All our mud tanks can be connected with an 8″ hose.

The paintings layers including 2-primary, 2-medium, 1-finish. Anyhow, please clean the tanks completely when stop operating it otherwise the drilling fluid will fill up and too hard to clean out. If we don’t clean tanks fully the internal content may abrase tank wall since main mud are chemicals. It’s very necessary to clean tanks deeply don’t keep anything blocked at drain gates or valves.

Desanders and desilters are solids control equipment that is installed on top of a mud tank. Each piece of equipment consists of a set of hydrocyclones that separate sand and silt from drilling fluid while they differ by the size of the hydrocyclones used.

Desanders utilize several 8″, 10″, or 12″ hydrocyclones. Utilizing hydrocyclones with larger internal diameters increases the flow rate as well as the size of the solids removed. Increasing the number of hydrocyclones in the package also increases the flow rate of drilling mud through the desander. Typically a 10 inch cone (hydrocyclone) is capable of removing 50% of solids with in the 40 to 50 micrometer range at a flow rate of 500 gallons per minute.

Desilters utilize smaller hydrocyclones and are used to process mud that has already been cycled through the desander. The number of cones in a desilter is greater than the corresponding desander as the smaller cones accommodate lower flow rates. Desilters are comprised of either 4″ or 5″ cones whereas each 4″ cone is capable of removing 50% of solids 15 to 20 micrometers in range at a flow rate of 60 gallons per minute.

Desanders and desilters are used to remove solids from drilling fluid that a shale shaker is incapable of removing. Other solids control equipment that may be used upstream from desanders and desilters includes degassers, mud cleaners, and gumbo removal equipment. Typically a decanting centrifuge follows the desilter before the drilling fluid is pumped back down into the well.

Centrifugal pumps that are driven by electric motors are responsible for moving the drilling fluids to various areas of the system within the cleaning process. Pumps and motors should both be sized correctly to adequately handle the systems volume needs.

The centrifugal pumps may feature either mechanical seals or rope packing, depending upon the pump type. Mechanical seals are relatively maintenance free, but rope packing requires proper attention. Rope style packing allows some fluid “leakage” from the packing area. Do not tighten the packing housing down to stop the leaking completely, or seal and shaft damage will occur. You should always maintain a slow drip when using rope type packing.

Maintaining the Life of an HDD Mud Pump Whether your mud system features an on-board triplex mud pump, or you are using a stand- alone mud pump, care should be taken to ensure your systems charge pump adequately feeds the pressure pump, or cavitation will occur within the triplex causing costly damage. One final thought: Beware of unnecessary gimmicks that could cause costly downtime in the field. In regards to this type of equipment, simple, easy-to-operate and easy-to-field service systems are your best bet.

Screen type and mesh selection are crucial to fine tuning your mud system and allows for effective screening and longer screen life. Most manufacturers include a standard set of screens that are good for an all-around starting point.

Keeping a good selection of assorted mesh screens is advised, as different soil conditions dictate different mesh. You want to run the finest mesh possible, without “ blinding” the screens (plugging the screen openings with solids).

Screens should be maintained during operations by rinsing periodically, and handled with care. They may be easily torn by rough or careless handling, or by having items dropped or set on them.
